  • Dec. 18, Tuesday @10:30am-11:30am Baby Loves Art: Baby Loves Art engages babies (18 months and younger ) in a visually stimulating gallery walk while  giving parents and caregivers a fun opportunity to connect with their babies as well as each other. All baby noises are expected and welcome. For the best art view, front carriers are recommended. Strollers are permitted, but please no backpacks. Meet at the Museum admission desk; no advance registration is required. The Crocker Art Museum is dedicated to reducing barriers and increasing accessibility to the Museum and art experiences. The Art Access initiative provides programs and services to help ensure art is available to everyone. Funding for programs is provided by the National Endowment for the Arts.   • Dec. 20, Thursday @6pm sketch lesson @7 Movie The Nightmare Before Christmas: Celebrate the holidays at the Crocker’s first ever Sketch-a-Movie featuring The Nightmare Before Christmas! The creativity and artistry of director Tim Burton are on full display in this critically acclaimed audience favorite, which was first released 25 years ago. Before the screening, enjoy a fun sketching lesson where you’ll learn how to draw Jack Skellington, Sally, Oogie Boogie, and other characters from the film. Then, sketch along as you experience the movie with new appreciation, or just sit back and enjoy the show! Limited sketching supplies will be provided, or bring your own (no pens or markers please).   • Dec. 26, Wednesday @10:30-11am Wee Wednesday: Bring your preschooler as well as yourself to this fun story time and gallery adventure for children ages 3 to 5. Each week children engage with different forms of art through a hands-on experience that encourages visual literacy, social-emotional skills, and museum familiarity. The experience begins in Tot Land with groups leaving at 10:30 and 11 AM.

  • Dec. 31, Monday @10am-2pm Family Festival: This year, we’re kicking the Noon Year Festival up a notch. The Crocker Art Museum will be decked-out in purple, and we encourage all of our young visitors (and their grownups) to do the same! One of Sacramento’s most heartwarming and fun-filled traditions is families coming together to countdown the New Year at noon. With live music from the steel drums of the Pan United Youth Movement led by Shawn Thwaites, folk dancing by Alpentänzer Schuhplattler,  fun activities throughout the Museum, and the Far East Dragon Lion Dance Association kicking everything off, this is one New Year’s celebration everyone can stay awake for.
