Being a stay at home dad

Being a stay at home dad is a lot different that how I thought my life would progress. For one, there is the judgement. People may say they accept or think it cool that you are a stay at home dad, but you still feel you are being judged by their facial expressions and the unspoken questions “is that really what you do.”  For me, I also do electrical jobs on the side but my full time gig is being a stay at home dad. I never thought that I would be say that, but it is true. It has taken a lot of patience that I never thought that I had. But when you have to do something you find the strength within yourself and just get it done. I love my son so much and wouldn’t take it back, but I would appreciate more interaction with adults at times.

So, I met Ray through my wife’s friend, he also happens to be a stay at home dad. Ray works and has multiple projects going, but his primary job is taking care of his son. My wife thought it would be a good idea for us to start a podcast and share some of the struggles we experience as stay at home dads. It just so happens that Ray was in the process of creating a lifestyle blog and YouTube channel. After some brainstorming, we figured out how to create a collaboration and now we get to share these experiences with you.

It has been a great learning experience working on this project. It has also been complicated on many occasions, trying to find the time to get work done. Nonetheless, it has been quite the adventure, watching the progress of this idea come to life.

So follow along as we continue to take baby steps towards creating this outlet for other dads and moms who may also find it resourceful.

We have learned a lot about the development of our children and in the difficulties of finding time to work around our babies, however we hope you find the information enriching. We pray that as we develop systems and the boys get a little older, things will get easier.

We welcome you to Dads in the House. Our goal is to build a community in which all stay at home dads and moms are inclusive of each other and are focused on helping to create a positive future for all of our children. We would love to hear what is working for you and please don’t hesitate to ask how we do what we do. Abundant knowledge, from multiple sources is always helpful.

I hope your future is bright and endless.

Dan
