Did You Know That Those Cute Freshly Picked Moroccans Have a Purpose?

Growing feet on little bodies can benefit greatly from soft-soled shoes. They are just learning to walk, jump, run, discover balance, and enjoy the freedom of movement.

Flexibility

Leather soft-soled shoes are more flexible than their plastic counterparts. Not to mention that they are lighter in weight too. This makes the act of walking more akin to that of being barefoot. After all, we as adults know what it is like to put on heavy hiking boots, and feel the pain in our sore legs and feet later.

Comfort

Soft soles allow kids to extend their toes for a better grip as if they had nothing on their feet. This improves coordination and allows them to be faster and more proficient walkers too. Moccasins that fit securely on tiny feet give plenty of room for feet to grow in an unrestricted way, and with an elastic strap, soft-soled moccasins will provide ultimate comfort while your child is moving about.

Earthing

Children, as well as grownups, can also benefit from walking barefoot, an act otherwise known as earthing or grounding. For many many years, people spent most of their time walking around barefoot. Not only did people walk around barefoot, but they slept on the ground, stood in the rivers, and allowed physical contact with the earth to help heal their bodies from inflammation, stress, and sickness. Today, earthing or grounding is rarely practiced. The only people who knowingly reconnect with their earth are the crunchy or the holistic believers. Earthing is proven to support your immune system and may help you sleep better. As a busy parent, who would not enjoy the benefits of having one, if not all family members sleeping better? Today we spend the majority of our time indoors, plus modern fashion dictates that shoes are more important than grounding. How do we and our children start reconnecting to the earth?

Earthing Shoes

If there are areas where it is unsafe to walk barefoot, because of man-made debris (broken glass, metal scraps, or sharp plastic), one could opt for earthing shoes made of hemp rope or from vegetable tanned leather. With just a few basic tools and sewing skills, you can even make them on your own! Kids’ shoes are a wonderful thing to begin with as they are small, and even if you make a mistake, you can go back quickly and re-stitch it back up.

When was the last time you walked barefoot out in nature?
